The Origin of Aegis
The name Aegis originated in the field rather than a marketing meeting. Managing Director Joseph Duggan led complex underwater timber surveys across Central and South America. Operating in austere environments throughout South America, the team required precise execution without the safety net of modern infrastructure. To manage the risks of these expeditions, they relied on the support of Navy divers to complete the complex underwater standing timber surveys.
During downtime, conversations often turned to the engineering of survival. These veterans spoke of the Aegis concept, the advanced defensive systems used to protect naval fleets. To them, Aegis represented a philosophy of impenetrable defense, situational awareness, and a refusal to fail when the mission was critical. It defined the ultimate shield.
